Writing Across the Curriculum-Workshops & Residencies
Workshops and residencies are available for students and teachers, and can range from 2 hours to 5 days, depending on the needs of the school.
Coming to America: Arrive in America in 1901 with only your dreams and a steamer trunk, and learn how how to live in a new country without losing your own culture. As we immigrate, we’ll integrate, bringing history to life through poetry and drama.
Condensing the Water Cycle: If you were a body of water, what would you notice? How does the water cycle really work? Explore the mysteries of water through poetry, dance, science, social studies and visual art.
The Poetry of Ecosystems: Create poetry and visual art to understand ecosystems from the inside out and the outside in, discovering how animal, plants and climates work together.
The Geography of Your Life: Your students will fall in love with social studies by designing three-dimensional maps of their own lives, the lives of historical figures, or characters from literature.
Reading & Writing Art: Visual Literacy & Poetry: Can you read a painting? Transform pictures into words? Your students will become detectives when they explore art—reading, analyzing and recreating it—to discover its secrets, and translate those secrets into poetry.
