SHAKESPEARE: OUTSIDE THE BOX

ACT’s Shakespeare:  Outside the Box workshop is designed to show how Shakespeare’s plays are as accessible to participants and audiences today as they were four hundred years ago. Space / technical requirements:

An open space allowing for students to move freely.  A space where performers/audience are separated.  Desks may be moved to the perimeter of the classroom to allow enough space.  A space where noise will not affect other classrooms.

Fees / Ticketing:

3-day (55 minutes per class) residency for 2 classes $1200 sequentially * 3-day (55 minutes per class) residency for 3 classes $1800 sequentially

Students will present their work to their class during three day residencies if requested.   This is a process based residency with not a performance.

The cost includes all teaching materials and travel. There is an additional travel fee of $50 per visit for schools outside the Charlotte City limit and $100 per visit for schools outside of Mecklenburg County.

This is a process based residency.

3.CU.2.1: Illustrate theatre etiquette appropriate to the performance situation.

2.AE.1.2: Understand how the use of costumes, props and masks enhance dramatic play.

Cancellation Policy

When schools are closed for inclement weather, ACT will work with the school to reschedule.

Cancellations will be honored at least three weeks prior to the residency. Cancellations made less than three weeks before the start date of the residency will not be accepted and the school or booking party will be charged. Cancellations must be made in writing or by email to: actartisticdir1@gmail.com.

ACT reserves the right to postpone a class due to illness.
