Bright Star Programs tie into a wide variety of Common Core State Standards depending on which program is chosen and which grade levels are seeing the program. A complete list of Common Core Standards are available for each of our productions on Bright Star’s website. Three examples of standards often found in Bright Star productions and study guides are:
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.SL.1.3 Ask and answer questions about what a speaker says in order to gather additional information or clarify something that is not understood.
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RL.3.2 Recount stories, including fables, folktales, and myths from diverse cultures; determine the central message, lesson, or moral and explain how it is conveyed through key details in the text.
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.5.3 Explain the relationships or interactions between two or more individuals, events, ideas, or concepts in a historical, scientific, or technical text based on specific information in the text.
Bright Star Programs tie into a wide variety of North Carolina Essential Standards, depending on which program the school or sponsor chooses. Three Essential Standards which often covered by our productions and study guides are:
RED.SE.3.1: Understand how to support positive relationship building (e.g. managing impulsivity, adaptability, and flexibility).
3.H.1.2: Analyze the impact of contributions made by diverse historical figures in local communities and regions over time
5.A.1.1: Analyze texts or scripts in terms of setting, characters, sequence of events, main idea, problem, solution, and their interrelationships.
Attached recommendations- one letter and one survey which was prepared for The Tennessee Arts Commission which rates Bright Star in a variety of cateogries.
Due to high costs associated with travel arrangements, we are unable to accept cancellations except in the instance that inclement weather causes the sponsor’s location to close AND Bright Star is unable to accommodate the Sponsor in making up the performance later on in the tour. If a school cancels a program outside of these perameters, Bright Star requires a 60% cancellation fee.
