The Nightingale: Artificial vs Authentic

Program description

Hans Christian Andersen created stories based on his life.  In these workshops, the Teaching Artist will lead the students in creating a dance based on something they do every day and then a positive life event that they remember.  Students will use gestures and abstract movements with a variety of energy explorations to tell their story.

Students in middle and high school will also explore the two opposite spectrums of performing movement superficially without genuine intent and then how to truly connect an emotion to the audience.  We will explore what it means to be real and authentic in our movements and intent.

This is a dance focused residency.
