Wing Haven

Wing Haven

As a sanctuary for birds, the garden is an excellent example of the value of and need for conserving wildlife, its habitat and natural resources in an urban setting. We invite you to use Wing Haven as an extension of your classroom experience.

A garden visit to Wing Haven can complement many classroom activities, and our educational staff is happy to work with you to meet the needs of your students. In addition to customized programming, we offer a 90-minute tour experience highlighting the garden as a bird habitat.  Our tour experience is available for pre-K through 12th grade. We participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count and Proejct Feederwatch each, both programs through the Cornell Lab of Ornithlogy and welcome students to participate. I addition to ornitholgy, we have opoprtunities to study plant life, pollinators, vegetable gardening and more in our SEED Wildlife Garden and Children’s Garden at Wing Haven.  Our on-site programs are closely aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study curriculum standards.
