Students are inspired by the figurative works by Keith Haring and Edgar Degas in creating their own three dimensional figure. After viewing works by the artists, students will gesture draw each other, gaining insight to a figure in motion. Their drawings will serve as the springboard to create figures showing motion. Students will use newspaper to create the form, and to cover with paper mache paste, and acrylic paint to finish. Students will attach the figure to a painted base, and embellish both the figure and base with gestural marks and patterns.
