Ephemeral Earth Art & Mandalas (Grades 3-12)

Program description

Ephemeral art is temporary. The art itself is about the creative process, the final product and the transformation of the art as it deteriorates and fades. Students will fall in love with the process of constructing beautiful, nature-inspired installations or mandalas on the campus lawns and gardens. The process will involve working collaboratively or individually to improvise with natural materials. All final works will be photographed as keepsakes for each team of artists.

This lesson can be modified to connect to math, science or social studies.
