Based out of Charlotte, NC, Black Bird Studio offers unique art education experiences for students of all ages. Our teaching artists are professional creatives who are passionate about making an impact while sharing what they do best. We offer one-day workshops and multi-day residencies in a variety of mediums that connect to k-12 core curricula. We value high quality final products and we have that vibe that the students just love! We are a multifaceted mobile art studio.

Grant funding from the Arts and Science Council enables us to offer free programs to students across Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools who would not otherwise have access.
Our partnerships with private schools, libraries, cultural centers and community events allow us to reach thousands of students annually.

Creative Curators (Grades 6-12)

Program description

Students will learn what is involved in curating an exhibition including the importance of presentation, options for artwork display and how to hang an exhibition using museum standards. In addition, students will learn the creative aspects of putting together an art exhibit including how to layout a show that is balanced and aethetically pleasing for a good audience experience. Extended programs can include the development of an exhibit-ready body of work, research and writing projects. This program can be modified to reach younger audiences.

Program price will vary based on the vision for the final product and exhibition, number of students impacted, time needed to complete the project and materials required. 

 

Pricing Guide:

$200-$300 – lesson design/planning fee (not applicable for all programs)
$100-$200 per hour of instruction
plus materials and any other service charges that my apply to the specific project

Cancellation Policy

A minimum fee of $100 will be charged for a program cancellation. If supplies were purchased in preparation for the program, the school will be required to reimburse Black Bird Studio.
