Miss Ava, locally known as “The Science Lady”, founded the Original Curiosity Camp on June 14, 1993. She has presented hands on science programs to over 100,000 children in local schools and organizations. Each program is designed to enhance the child’s education through discovery learning and experimentation. The motto of The Original Curiosity Camp is “Satisfying a child’s Curiosity is like trying to catch a comet.” Time honored favorites include Ooze, Glop, & Slime, Fossil Fun, Stomp Rockets, Invisible Forces, and ZAP! Electricity.

Launch your students’ imaginations into a world where gravity loses its grip. Learn about the special equipment that is needed by the astronaut for travel in outer space. Students will witness a demonstration using a scale model of a Saturn 5 rocket. They will participate in a problem solving activity to emulate Apollo 13 Crew’s challenge of desiging an adapter that will enable a square fitting to go into a round hole. Each student will be given a brown bag containing several objects from which they will build a tool with a specific purpose.
Learning concepts include astronaut training, space travel, invisible forces, and problem solving.
