Applied Movement Residency

Program description

Applied Movement Residency takes a concept or text being explored in the classroom and embodies it, creating a movement experience.  Through the multi-day workshop students will learn basic dance technique and structures that will then allow them to work together as a group to create a meaningful performative experience that represents the ideas explored in through classroom instruction.

For example if students are exploring a text in English Literature class, this residency will apply students prior knowledge of the text into a movement experience.  The abstract nature of dance will allow students to explore themes within the text without “acting out” the plot.

This residency can work inside any curriculum area and can be modified for any age group.
