American Capoeira Foundation

The mission of the American Capoeira Foundation is to develop, promote, educate and preserve aspects of Afro-Brazilian culture, which includes capoeira, music, dance, and theater with the purpose improving humanity and strengthening community. Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilina art form that combines music, dance, acrobatics, and martial arts.

Capoeira is practiced by people of all ages all oever the world. The American Capoeira Foundation believes in collaboration, community, diversity, excellence, and service. The organization has worked with local organization such as the Greater Enrichment Program, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (Mountain Island Lake Academy, Providence Day and others), Charlotte-Mecklenburg Libraries through our partner the International Capoeira School of Charlotte. The American Capoeira Foundation offers classes, workshops, residencies, after-school programs, and performances to educate and promote capoeira and other related aspects of Afro-Brazilian culture.
