There are lots of people who have made great contributions to history and yet, we seldom hear about them. This program features two of those little known patriots who helped to shape our American past.
Clarissa (Clara) Harlowe Barton: Civil War nurse and founder of the American Red Cross. She dedicated her life to serving the needs of others.
Corporal James Tanner: On the night when Abraham Lincoln was shot Corporal James Tanner was called to sit at the bedside of a dying president to record all that was said and done. His written words have gone down in history. Through story, students will learn about my hometown relationship with Corporal James Tanner and the life decisions and challenges that brought him to be at the bedside of Abraham Lincoln.
