Blumenthal Performing Arts (BPA) is a non-profit organization that operates six theaters on three campuses in uptown Charlotte. Our mission is to present the best in the performing arts and in partnership with others, share and employ the arts as a major catalyst to strengthen education, build community cohesiveness and advance economic growth.
BPA’s Education Department strives to enhance relationships with community organizations, schools, and individuals throughout the Central Carolinas. Through a variety of educational and enrichment programs, we seek to bring the performing arts to a diverse population within our extended community. Several of these initiatives include: increasing arts access and education throughout the region through weekday matinees for school groups, supporting and celebrating our area performing arts educators with professional development and discount tickets through the Arts Educator Network, and diving into meaningful conversations with Community Cues.
We would love to connect with you. If you would like more information about our BPA Education programs, please e-mail EducationDepartment@blumenthalarts.org.

Blumenthal is proud of partner with local school districts to serve teachers of all concentrations through engaging, relevant professional development. This program comes with a bit of flexibility as this PD can be tailored to your school’s specific needs or area of interest.
Some of our previous PD offerings included:
-Utilizing creativity as a tool for mental health (implemented around Immersive Van Gogh)
-The Power of Spoken Word (for theater or ELA classrooms)
-Vocal Health of Teachers (and How to Properly Project Their Voice)
Next steps: If interested, please reach out to set up a time to talk through your hopes for a PD workshop at your school.

February 1st to May 6th, 2022. Flexible based on request of school.
Flexible
Typically a large open space that allows for movement works best for our PD workshops (stage, media center, large classroom, etc).
Typically these PD workshops are hosted by the requesting school.
Cost of PD workshops vary on a case-by-case basis based on the length of the workshop(s) and number of teachers served.
Arts Education Professional Development
Much of the NCDPI Arts Ed PD Catalog focuses on SEL, which can be included in the requested PD offering. The content of the workshop will be created to best serve the teachers at your school, so the standards covered are TBD based on your curriculum request.
