Shepherd Shakespeare Company

Shepherd Shakespeare Company

SSCo was founded by a husband and wife team—Chester and Katy Shepherd—who share a love of theatre and performing for audiences of all ages. Both experienced theatre artists and educators, they have acted, directed, and taught all across the country and have been fortunate to work extensively with Children’s Theatre of Charlotte and Actor’s Theatre of Charlotte. Now they want to bring their love of Shakespeare to as many people and places as possible. With a strong passion for children and education, they strive to bring Shakespeare to areas where it might not normally be available.

A Midsummer Night's Dream (MS/HS)

Program description

Two actors play eighteen different characters in this fast and fun, hour-long cut of Shakespeare’s classic comedy. As the fairy queen and king, Titania and Oberon, wrestle for control, Puck, Oberon’s servant, wreaks mayhem, causing people to fall in and out of love in an instant. Meanwhile, a group of workers from Athens try to rehearse a play in the woods, but they too get mixed up in the fairy magic. Students will see Shakespeare’s words come to life in a thrilling and accessible way, perfect as an introduction to Shakespeare or to cap off a study of the play.
