Imagination, Creativity & Word Play with Musician Roger Day (Performances/Workshops/Residencies)
Roger Day’s concerts are action-filled adventures that exercise both mind AND muscle; both body AND brain. Roger Day keeps his young audiences involved and captivated. His infectiously-fun concerts inspire each child to discover his and her own talents, give flight to the imagination; to DREAM BIG! and SHAKE UP YOUR BRAIN! Educational concerts for PreK-5th grade feature original songs from Roger’s CDs. Students learn new languages from songs that tour the world & join in the concert with body motions & supporting vocals while touring through Tibet, the Congo, the Tropics, & even their own backyard.
INVINCIBLE! encourages and empowers young super heroes everywhere to solve the problem and save the day by using the greatest super powers of all – reading and imagination!
DREAM BIG! encourages students to set goals, us their creativity and imagination and strive toward BIG dreams.
Songs in GET YOUR BRAIN IN GEAR encourage students that they have all the answers they need – right now – inside their brains. They’ll learn which side of the brain loves to “do the math” to what foods make us smarter. Roger’s songs are rich in facts, new language, locales, and experiences for families and preschool and elementary children.
MARSH MUD MADNESS Roger takes students on an original, highly interactive musical journey up and down the amazing seacoast of the southeastern U.S. With Roger’s assistance, students will step knee deep in oozy marsh mud; marvel at the mysterious journey of the loggerhead turtle; learn the secretive ways of the ghost crab; and be on the watch for vulture vomit! Roger will introduce some very colorful characters who live in and around the barrier islands, and in the process students will learn about the important role each of them play in maintaining a healthy coastal ecosystem.
ZOOKEEPER’S IN THE HOUSE! is STEAM-based learning with a jungle beat! Roger celebrates the unsung heroes that make the zoo a fascinating place for children to learn. The Zookeepers! From veterinarians to wildlife biologists there’s a whole team of people who work together to keep animals at the zoo healthy and safe. Through interactive, energetic songs like “It’s a No No to Kiss a Rhino” and “Rumble in the Jungle” Roger will encourage young audience members to “observe, reflect, question and decide” as they not only learn about the amazing animals at the zoo – what they eat, where they’re from, what’s their habitat – but also the dedicated team of scientists who take care of them everyday.
Roger’s SONGWRITING WORKSHOPS are designed for students to create an original group song in one class period. Roger uses the same creative writing process that the students will use. Together, they will come up with a main idea, brainstorm lots of fun, juicy details, revise and edit the best ones until there is a final draft ready to hit the radio as a number one smash hit!
