Art & Creative Writing

Program description
Discover how art can spark a writer’s imagination and how writing can help one better understand art. Students will look closely at works of art and respond with creative writing.

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays during the academic year.
Program start/end times flexible: between 10:00am and 3:00pm.
Schools responsible for transportation to and from the museum. Bilingual Spanish tours are available upon request.

College and Career Readiness Anchor Standards: Reading (R.1): students will analyze and interpret works of art from the museum’s collection Speaking and Listening (SL.1): Students will discuss collaboratively in groups the works of art Writing (W.3): Students will write real and imaginary narratives based on works of art
Arts Education, Visual Arts K-12 Standards: Visual Literacy (V.1): Students will identify the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design in works of art in the museum galleries Contextual Relevancy (CX.1): This program will help students understand the global, historical, societal, and cultural contexts of the visual arts Critical Response (CR.1): Students will have the opportunity to develop and share personal opinions about art using art terminology

Cancellation Policy
Written cancellation for the program must be sent to gennifer.stanley@mintmuseum.org and received no later than 10 days prior to the start of the program. If the program is cancelled after the 10 day deadline, a cancellation fee of $50 will be required.
