CCSS.ELA-Literacy.CCRA.L.6 Acquire and use accurately a range of general academic and domain-specific words and phrases sufficient for reading, writing, speaking, and listening at the college and career readiness level; demonstrate independence in gathering vocabulary knowledge when encountering an unknown term important to comprehension or expression. (Students will acquire vocabulary by experiencing the new words through story and in context of the story.)
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.CCRA.R.7 Integrate and evaluate content presented in diverse media and formats, including visually and quantitatively, as well as in words. (Students will listen to the stories, as well as participate vocally.)
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.CCRA.SL.6 Adapt speech to a variety of contexts and communicative tasks, demonstrating command of formal English when indicated or appropriate. (Students will experience different tones a textures of language through the story and how these changes affect the story.)

3.C.2 Use performance to communicate ideas and feelings. (Students will participate in the performance sometimes as a group and individually, being coached to illustrate the emotions of the characters.)
3.C.2.1 Use improvisation to present a variety of simple stories or situations. (Students will participate in the stories without prior knowledge of the presentation as a whole. At times they will be asked to present dialogue into the story.)
4.H.1 Analyze the chronology of key historical events in North Carolina history. (Through the presentation of the story, students will discover the sequence of events leading up to the specific events.)
