Force & Motion: Science & Dance
Program Description
Science, Dance, and mime share similar vocabularies and concepts, like weight (heavy-light), force (push-pull), direction, and speed. In this residency, (either in class or online) students physically explore the meaning of, and demonstrate their understanding of, concepts like properties of matter, energy, sound waves, force, and motion, using the elements of dance. Students need space to move in–desks can be moved or we can work in an open space. Sheila needs a place where she can post some chart paper, on the wall, some space on the board, and a little table space to hold her stuff. For online classes, she needs access to the school’s digital platforms. Students need internet connectivity.

Science grades 3–5: Forces & Motion; Matter: Properties & Change; Energy: Conservation & Transfer; Earth in the Universe; Earth Systems, Structures & Processes NB: Ms. Kerrigan plans with teachers which of the above Science concepts we will focus on. Dance Grades 3-5: Creation & Performance 1. Use choreographic principles, structures, and processes to create dances that communicate ideas, experiences, feelings, and images. Dance Movement Skills DM.1 Understand how to use movement skills in dance. Theatre Arts: 3-5: C.1 Use movement, voice, and writing to communicate ideas and feelings.

Cancellation Policy
If a residency is cancelled due to acts of God, illness, accident, or other circumstances out of our control, we will work to reschedule on a mutually-agreed-upon date. Cancellation by a school of a contracted residency will represent breach of contract, and school will pay damages of 50% of the agreed-upon fee. Cancellation less than 30 days before the contracted date will result in full payment of the agreed-upon fee on the contracted date. If I am unable to fulfill this contract, I will notify you no later than 10 days prior to the date of the contracted services.
