School shows are typically from 10:00-11:00 am, but vary based on the needs of the performers. See our events page on the Blumenthal website for evening and weekend performances.
All performances will take place in one of Blumenthal’s six theaters.
School show tickets are $5.00 per seat. Evening and weekend performance prices vary by show and section of the theater. E-mail Tommy Prudenti, tprudenti@blumenthalarts.org for pricing assistance. Each school is responsible for its own busing; however Blumenthal grant funding may be available to assist with transportation. Please e-mail tprudenti@ncbpac.org for more information regarding payment and scholarship options.
EDUCATION STANDARDS
The following standards can be adapted for grades K-12: SL2 – Comprehension and Collaboration: Integrate and evaluate information presented in diverse media and formats, including visually, quantitatively, and orally. R5 – Craft and Structure: Analyze the structure of texts, including how specific sentences, paragraphs, and larger portions of the text relate to each other and the whole. (ie: For shows with elements of dance, students will look at the individual dance moves and how they relate to each other to create a performance). R9 – Integration of Knowledge and Ideas: Analyze how two or more texts address similar themes or topics in order to build knowledge or to compare the approaches the authors take. (ie: For shows based on a poem, book, story, etc., students will compare and contrast the written work and the theatrical work).
The following standards can be adapted for grades K-12: Dance – For shows with elements of dance, students will use a variety of thinking skills to analyze and evaluate dance. (Responding – R.1) Theater – For shows with elements of theater, students will analyze literary texts and performances. (Analyzing – A.1) Music – For shows with elements of music, students will understand the interacting elements to respond to music and music performances. (Musical Response – MR.1)

Because the tickets need to be purchased in advance, the school will be responsible for the cost of the tickets if 7 days notice of cancellation is not given.
