R3 – Analyze how and why individuals, events, or ideas develop and interact over the course of a text. (Students meet historical figures that explain events that lead up to and through American Revolution. Students discover how these characters ideas help to shape our government and the course of events.)
R2 – Determine central ideas or themes of a text and analyze their development; summarize the key supporting details and ideas. (Actors read Declaration of Independence and The United States Constitution and students are lead in the interpretation of the main ideas found in the text.)
R1 – Read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it; cite specific textual evidence when writing or speaking to support conclusions drawn from the text. (Students view theatrical skits, images and animations related to the American Revolution then answer question in game show format about the content given.)
From the Social Studies 3-5 Standards: 5.C&G.1 – Understand the development, structure and function of government in the United States. (Students explore the discuss the three branches of our democracy the role they play in governing the United States. They also find correlations between the ancient greek notion of democracy and our modern day democracy).
5.H.2 – Understand the role of prominent figures in shaping the United States. (Students meet and listen to explanations of the role various historical figures played in the formation of our nation.) George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, Betsy Ross etc.
5.H.1 – Analyze the chronology of key events in the United States. (Students examine key historical events such as the Continental Congresses, Various American Revolution Battles, Signing of The Declaration Of Independence.)

Because The Story Ship’s acceptance of a performance agreement may cause it to turn down other work, the parties agree that if for any reason the services are canceled by the Presenter, Presenter must reschedule the event at the Presenter’s and Story Ship’s earliest convenience or pay 100% of the agreed fees.
