Booking / scheduling contact
We’re booking blocks of shows in December, March, May, & June.
We need an hour before the show to load in, run sound check, etc. with the space free of students. We need two sturdy folding tables to hold gear, in proximity to a stable power source, and five chairs. After the show, we need half an hour to load out.
Any school or participating venue within or near Mecklenburg County.
$1100 for a single show or $1750 for two back-to-back shows at the same school. Travel fees may apply. For best results, booking two shows enables us to more precisely tailor our age-appropriate material. The second show is offered at a significant discount in order to facilitate the best educational experience for your students.
Common Core Anchor Standard R8: Delineate and evaluate the argument and specific claims in a text, including the validity of the reasoning as well as the relevance and sufficiency of the evidence. In our case, we explain the Scientific Method, and encourage students to use proper sources and evidence to overturn or validate hypotheses.
Common Core Anchor Standard SL4: Present information, findings, and supporting evidence such that listeners can follow the line of reasoning and the organization, development, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience. In our song “Math is Everywhere,” the speaker/singer applies these principles to explain very simple through very complex mathematical concepts in an easy-to-digest manner.
Common Core Math Standard 4.MD: Solve problems involving measurement and conversion of measurements from a larger unit to a smaller unit. We talk about the conversion of measurements in everyday situations like baking, telling time, and music (subdividing rhythm, etc.).
NC Essential Standard 3.P.1: Understand motion and factors that affect motion.
NC Essential Standard 4.P.1: Explain how various forces affect the motion of an object.
NC Essential Standard 5.P.1: Understand force, motion and the relationship between them.
Our “Paper Airplane Samba” covers how thrust, drag, lift, and weight all affect an object’s ability to fly.
NC Essential Standard 4.E.1: Explain the causes of day and night and phases of the moon.
We explain that time – hours, minutes, seconds – are based on planetary motion, specifically, how long it takes the earth to rotate once.
NC Essential Standard 4.E.2: Understand the use of fossils and changes in the surface of the earth as evidence of the history of Earth and its changing life forms.
We explain which disciplines are used to learn about the earth’s ancient past – paleontology, archaeology, etc.
