Weeds to Writing

Program description
Students learn about transitions in their lifestyle, then learn about the transition of plant life to paper. They study plant life and the process of paper making. They then journal on their newly made paper about a transition in their life. Transitions could be a geographic move, transitioning to high school, a divorce or any topic students want to journal about.

Each student needs a 2 foot table space. This project requires access to water and electrical.
Mecklenburg county. There is a $50 trip fee, outside of county.

1 CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.CCRA.SL.2 Integrate and evaluate information presented in diverse media and formats, including visually, quantitatively, and orally. Students are presented with other nature art pieces by diverse media and formats. They collaborate and design their own community art project.

Present information, findings, and supporting evidence such that listeners can follow the line of reasoning and the organization, development, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience. Students listened to instructions on reproducing nature in an artistic manner.
3 CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.CCRA.SL.5 Make strategic use of digital media and visual displays of data to express information and enhance understanding of presentations. The final piece of artwork provides visual display of students interpretation of the theme for natural art.
