Tours at the Gantt Center are designed to help students and teachers use observation and critical thinking skills to gain a deeper understanding of the cultural and historical context of the artwork on display. These visits address the following Common Core and North Carolina Essential Standards:

Contextual Relevancy – K-12.CX.1 Understand the global, historical, societal, and cultural contexts of the visual arts.
History – K-12.H.1 Understand that history tells a story of how people and events changed society over time and how various sources provide information about the past.
Speaking and Listening – K-12.SL.1 Participate in collaborative conversations with diverse partners about grade 1 topics and texts with peers and adults in small and larger groups.
Culture – 2-12.C.2.1 Explain how artistic expressions of diverse cultures contribute to the community
